I have this problem with monotony. It’s something that doesn’t go away in my life.  The only way to kill it (at least momentarily) is of course to try something different like going to places I haven’t been to, or eating food I haven’t tasted before.
With the brave heart and steadfast mind, I entered the uncharted doors of Bangkok wok.  Wok is a Chinese term that means a round-bottomed vessel used for cooking.  The name might sound funny, but wait till you read the menu.  You’ll find yourself laughing while trying to order out dishes to the waiter, like mon pau kok or pau kok mon.  Of course those are not exact names, I made those all up, but you got the idea.
First impression. The place looks different.  Not because it gives me that Bangkok feel, but because it doesn’t.  No details, that would imply that it’s Bangkok, nothing oriental no bamboo. No nothing.   So I was thinking hmmm, probably it’s just the food that’s bangkoky (if there’s such a word!) here.  It better be good!
First one on the menu, fried hard boild eggs topped with sweet tamarind sauce.  It costs a hundred pesos for 3 eggs sliced in half. First thing came to mind: What the hell is this? What’s so special about this dish? It's a bit like kwek kwek for crying out loud and I could buy kwek kwek along the streets for 3 pesos each! But all disappointment went to a halt when I tasted it.  It tasted entirely like a different meal.  I’ve forgotten that I was eating hard boiled eggs.  The sweet tamarind sauce was the secret behind this dish.  It’s definitely a winner for me.
Next are the main dishes! Weeee!!! They brought in some crispy fish sauce, and vegetable dish and of course the bagoong rice.
This crispy fish sauce dish wasn’t crispy at all.  It's fish skin that’s fried a bit and showered with sweet sauce and a minty leaf, which made me nauseous after a minute of eating.
The vegetable dish tasted like any vegetable dishes out there.  It didn't really have that wow factor that its price demands.  What I like though, was that they added some fried garlic, which gave it that extra zing! That made this dish a passer!
And the last but definitely not the least, the bagoong rice. It really looks festive! The fried egg, fried small shrimps, onion and meat on top makes it a winner in itself.  Eating the first spoonfuls of it was heavenly that I made a big grin on my face and unbashingly said “Thank you Lord.” Now this is what I’m talking about!  Eat this in small amount or else that heaven won’t be heaven anymore.  I literally felt like vomiting when I ate a platter full of it.  As the saying goes, too much of something is bad enough. I finally got the uneasiness out by gulping down a glass of water.

Mama Mia it's Pizzeria!

Not long ago did this pizza house opened, and mahn did they attract a lot of crowd. This is probably one of the most sought after pizza place in town.  The pizza is great, the place takes you to Europe, and more importantly the food is cheap, and it offers a lot of choices too.

Im not certain if this is like the authentic Italian-style pizza. But hey, with the prize like that? I wouldn't even complain. :)
Now for those people who've seen this picture for the first time, you might think that it's a spoof.  Well, it's not.  It happened in real life during a riot in Vancouver Games 7.  Alex Thomas, was knocked down to the ground by a police, and boyfriend, Scott Jones rushed in to her rescue, and both did the unthinkable: they kissed as police were marching down the road.  Their first interview after the event, they told everyone that "it was the best thing to do".

Ok. So I understand that it was a crazy move considering the tension that was there: police marching with guns/batons on hand, angry people screaming, perhaps throwing some stones and what not.  But has anyone seen an action flick that has the star of the film and his chick kissing while explosions and bullets flying all over the place? Well I did, a lot of times.  But I just couldn't believe that it could actually happen in real life.  I think it was a cool move though.  She probably saw him as her night in shining armor, and thought that he was such a stud that he came to her rescue.  Well he is a stud to start of with, but on that instance I think he was just oozing with studness, that giving him a kiss was a no-brainer.  That's something I would personally do if given a chance.  I definitely think that it was one of the highlights in their relationship.

Venus Williams, the great tennis athlete had surprisingly ventured to a career on fashion.  Yes, we may have seen her strutting some nice outfits here and there and she was able to pull it off really well.  I think having that strong and athletic body helped her on that, but it could only take her so far.

When she went out at the court at the opening day of Wimbledon, she was wearing this white toga jumper outfit, that reminds me of the white curtains we used to have at home.  Needless to say it was a big flop.  The extra clothing hanging at the sides looked really silly, the zip front detailing seemed a bit tacky.  All in all it doesn't look like a sports wear to me, which I think what she was going for.  If I'm correct, I think she was thinking of a clothing line that's really different and classy unlike what we already know.  She thought that it's a get-up suitable for "now".

The concept is nice, but execution? Questionable.  I must give her consolation though for picking a good shade.  White does suit her, for the rest, well you know the verdict.

Beauty is Skin Deep

Yes beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but I have to say that everyone is beautiful if she has fabulous skin. Take whatever complexion you may have, if you have nice, healthy radiant skin, you could automatically be considered beautiful.

So the question now is, how to get that beautiful perfect skin without busting your savings? Answer my friend is found in the kitchen.

Listed down below are the things that I personally tried and proven effective.

1. Baking soda - Not only is this cheap it's also multi-purpose. It's for baking, cleaning, and whitening teeth and for minimizing pores.

2. Veggies - Good skin starts within.  Eating food rich in Vitamin E, B, and proteins will do the trick to give you that million dollar glow.

3. Water - About 8 to 12 glasses of water is recommended to keep your skin supple and well hydrated.  Also, this minimizes the occurence of wrinkles.

4. Oatmeal, honey mask - Actually there are a lot of home-made masks that you could do, this however, is my favorite.  The oatmeal will help exfoliate your skin, getting ride of old cells that could block your pores which could develop into pimples.  The honey will tone the skin and will give it a fresher glow.

5. Avocado - Eating and mashing it and putting it on as a mask, either way, works wonderfully well for the skin.

Treat your face for a very nourishing mask at least once a week.  Doing these things on a regular basis would surely save you from a trip to the derma and save you from purchasing thousands of chemical-based beauty products out there.
